HIM-IS: Human Impact Management for Information Security
HIMIS is a "Creative Commons" licensed methodology for managing the human impact on information security. HIM-IS segregates information security "awareness" and "behavior" as two distinct but inter-related components. HIM-IS considers "information security awareness" as "understanding of information security" and "information security behavior" as the "application of good information security practices". In essence, HIM-IS goes beyond "information security awareness" and by providing a framework for migrating "awareness" to "behavior". Organizations can use HIM-IS for,- Linking business goals to expectations from the workforce in terms of information security awareness and behavior
- Assessing the current levels of information security awareness and behavior
- Creating an "Expected security practices list (ESPL)" (list of desirable information security awareness and behavior)
- Implementing the "ESPL"
- Measuring the improvements "before" and "after" the implementation of ESPL
- Creating a continuous improvement model
